Advanced Veterinary Oncology Care for Santa Cruz Pets
Cancer is a disease that affects both humans and animals, and it can affect even the healthiest ones. The good news? There are advanced treatments available for this deadly illness.
Our oncology vets at Pacific & Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialists provide care and treatment for pets with cancer, as well as support for the families who love them. We'll work closely with other specialists and your primary vet to ensure your pet gets the best care possible.
We will meet with you and your pet to discuss the disease, staging (additional diagnostics), veterinary oncology treatment options, and prognosis after reviewing your pet's medical history and diagnosis.
Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist
A board-certified veterinary oncologist has completed extensive oncology training after graduating from veterinary school (how cancer develops and how to treat it). This training consists of an internship and specialized residency, as well as comprehensive exams and publication requirements to become board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM).
Staging (Additional Diagnostics)
After a cancer diagnosis, additional diagnostic testing can help determine the extent of cancer in the body. This allows us to enhance treatment options and better predict prognosis.
At Pacific & Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialists, we offer in-house, state-of-the-art services for the most accurate diagnosis and veterinary oncology treatment possible.
Treatment Options
When staging completes, our team of specialists discusses all the appropriate treatment options. They are several therapies or combinations of treatment to manage cancer. These include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, or palliative care when appropriate.
